Have you ever been to a TeaParty?  Not a tea party like little girls enact or have for friends, but a TeaParty like in Boston?!!  Well, I attended a TeaParty here for the Conservative Enthusiasts on Mercer Island in Washington State for this 4th of July 2010.  This TeaParty was like a good old fashioned 4th of July with a picnic, speakers and community.

The speakers at this celebration were all wonderful; giving thoughtful, insightful speeches soliciting change for these United States. The topics covered ranged from the Constitution to Government Reform, from musical patriotism to a confrontation with the issue of racism.

In researching the internet for other such “tea parties”, I found that other areas of the United States don’t have such amicable get togethers. There has been violence over racism, inequitable confrontations and more. Attending this gathering on Mercer Island gave me a different view of my state, the State Washington, and even the people of the county I live in, King County. The people at this gathering were caring, concerned citizens who want only the best for their state and these United States.

Rev. Wayne Perryman, MC and Speaker

Whites, Blacks and Racist Democrats by Wayne Perryman

One of the speakers, Wayne Perryman, is a minister in the Mercer Island area. He gave a surprising, wonderful presentation on a book he has written named, “Whites, Blacks and Racist Democrats”. Now, I was raised in a Democratic family. My parents adored John F. Kennedy and subsequent Democrats who have run for Presidency in this country. Consequently, I didn’t Understand the title of the book until listening to Reverend Perryman’s presentation. Some of my ancestors most certainly owned slaves in the south, but my parents were not racist. To increase my awareness, I bought Rev. Perryman’s book!

There was also input from the younger generation when the son of Trent England added his rendition of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address opening, complementing his father's presentation on the Constitution

These featured members were not the entire cast. There were many more Gifted, conscientious Conservatives who provided input to the program.

All in all, the TeaParty was a success. Other than some windy periods and overcast skies, the day went very well. The celebration proved that we, as Americans, can voice our Beliefs and Opinions in an amicable manner. It proved that things are not always as they seem. We have to look for the Truth. Future TeaParties will be tempting for me, now. Tea has always been a favorite of mine, anyway!!!

In conclusion....

Thank you so much for your patience with my handheld camera skills! I expect to improve with future endeavors!
