Companies Deserving Respect

Let’s give a commendation for Comcast.net.  Today I viewed a picture article on 9 companies who deserve our Respect.  These companies have taken business management seriously and done what had to be done to avoid layoffs of employees within their ranks. This article gives accolades to 9 companies, but there must be more companies out there that have done what they could to keep us employed.

The 9 companies are: Nugget Market Inc, Devon Energy Corp, Aflac Inc, QuickTrip Corp, The Container Store Inc, NuStar Energy LP, Stew Leonard’s, Scottrade Inc, Publix Super Markets Inc. These definitely are the companies to work for if you are a current employee. If you are looking for work, keep in mind that these companies pride themselves in Loyalty and keep the people they hire employed. These companies may not be in need of additional employees, so do not beat down their doors to get in.

There is so much news coverage of the companies who let their employees go at the drop of a hat. It is a refreshing change to see those companies that will do whatever it takes to keep good people working. It was interesting to see that Comcast was not in this pictorial display. Personally, I have heard good things about Comcast proper, as far as treatment of employees.

From personal experience, there is only one company on the list of 9 that I can vouch for myself. Publix Super Markets Inc gave me a job in Marietta, Georgia, when I moved there and had no professional position immediately. I worked for $5.00/hour as a cashier. It was one of those wonderful experiences that you get during a career change. I worked for Publix for nearly 5 months. During the last month, I acquired a computer programming quality control position at $13.00/hour. I worked both jobs. During the second week of the computer job, I was offered a senior regulatory affairs associate position with an area chemical manufacturing company. In the span of 2 weeks, I went from $5/hr to $13/hr to over $30/hr. That’s the way to do the job hunt!!!

To these companies who protect and take seriously their responsibility of employer, I say, “Keep up the Good Work!” To the corporations out there who cannot seem to understand the definition of Loyalty and Responsibility, I say, “Take a look at these wonderful companies. Learn from their expertise. Apply what you have now Learned. Help our country to come to an even keel by employing, mentoring and protecting the people of the United States.” Look for people who were born, bred and lived their whole lives here. Let’s take care of the Home Business and then venture out to help the world. We will all be Blessed by these efforts. What happens for the United States filters over into the rest of the world.
