Eight steps to Stabilizing Your Small Business in a Roller Coaster Ride Economy

This article is a reprint from my own personal social site. It is not an open site however, so I have decided to include this specific article here, as I am desperately tried to become an Entrepreneur in our depressed economy. It has actually been 30 years that I have tried to get this business going. The Road Less Traveled... people try so hard to do things their way and it ultimately seems that there is another The Way things are to be done.

 Over the past 2 years, we have gone from a rich, care-free society to being an unstable economic business community. Those most drastically hit have been the entrepreneur, the labor oriented fields such as construction and its satellite disciplines. The fluctuations in the economy, hitting the core of the labor market the supports a majority of our workers. To affect our corporations is a sad ordeal, but to nearly destroy our housing market and the workers associated with it is definitely a tragedy.

Seemingly not learning our lessons, the financial market is still hitting hard at the core of this country. One way to stop the Roller Coaster Ride is to revert back to the stability of our earlier traditions. Our Gifted and Intelligent people must move back to the method of Entrepreneurial business. When business entities grow to such a large extent that the human factor is lost, financial basis collapses. Corporate governance loses its hold on the quality of employee that it can attain and hold on to. The impersonization of the relationship between employer and employee leads to a loss of control for both entities.

In order to regain our Control in this country, the following 8 key factors, applied with diligence will result in: more stable Communities; more reliable employment for employees; employers with responsible, qualified and loyal employees.

1 Encourage your Gifted and Talented employees to become Entrepreneurs. Place them under contract so they are responsible for their own income, liability, and reputation. The IRS has detailed information on the criteria to use when determining who is an employee and who is a contractor. See IRS Publication 15 for more information.

2 Let go of all employees who gossip, backstab and otherwise undermine the credibility, reputation and integrity of ANY other individual. If they will talk about someone else, they will talk about you! If they can’t stop talking long enough to catch their breath, they are wasting your time and your money.

3 Provide seminars, working groups and other support functions to ensure that the employees converting to Entrepreneur are well-versed in how to start their business. There is a Massive Pool of information providers for taxes, insurance, bookkeeping, marketing and all sorts of business strategy. For example, Universal Accounting in Salt Lake City, Utah is a very good source for Entreprenuers needing accounting information.

4 The loyal employee will stay with you, cost you less, provide you with more inspired input and production. Yet, they will not be tied to you.

 5 Confidentiality agreements are only as good as the people who makes the agreement. If a person is loyal and confidential with you now, they will also be as an Entrepreneur. They could possibly be more so!

6 Put an end to the “good ‘ol boy” system. Friends and family are not necessarily the best employee. Incest causes mutation! And retardation!!! Encourage all people to seek their own unique place in this world. If they are meant to work for and with you, they will surely end up back with you.

7 As a corporate entity, seek your own Entrepreneurial Spirit, once again! You had it once. It is not lost. You just have to find it, again. Money will always flow to the person who is good at what they do, especially when Enterpreneurs are in the majority.

8 Encourage Community. By this I do not mean feeding the homeless or carting the elderly to the grocery store. I mean encourage every last person in your community to live out the life they have been given. There is something for everyone if the natural scheme of things is allowed to Rule. Encourage family responsibility for their own members. Those people not willing to care for their own elderly, or those with life-threatening illness or disease, should be penalized in some manner. To lock away our afflicted and older populations is to lock away our Wisdom. We NEED our older populations to Guide us. We need them in our homes and in our lives. If possible, put an end to assisted living homes and homeless shelters.

 Applying these simple key factors will bring us back to Loyalty, Honor, Good Judgment, Responsibility and Abundance. Putting all of our men to work will work Wonders for this country. Put every last man into a working situation where he is responsible to the Community for Success in his business. Show them the Way to Success. Don't allow ANYONE to fail. We will, again, fall under the Favor of our Creator. We will again be Blessed.
