My Sweet Georgia Boy

It is a once in a lifetime event. You meet a person who makes your heart leap. It may be a surprise. This person is really not your type, you think! Still, as time passes by, this person consumes your thoughts, your life and your heart. The Dreams begin and so does the Journey, along with the Hope that the Journey will end and your life together can begin.
The Journey is to break all attachments with anyone who might interfere with your Godly relationship. When the Journey is over, you are ready to spend Eternity with your God Given spouse. It can be a long wait for the one God Chose for you. The Journey is sometimes long and strewn with temptation.
This is the One! (a poem I had written in the winter of 1998-99)
There in my mind, clear for me to See,
My husband and my enemy, as close as they could be.
This man did not love me, any feelings had been lust,
If God had been there in his heart, True Love would be a must.
True Love means there’s Loyalty, your heart I will not break,
Advantage of your love for me, I will never take.
And though this husband was not mine, no vows did we say,
God had shown this man to me, on a summer’s day.
He said, “This is the one, I Know you cannot See,
Why I Chose this man for you, you’ll have to Trust in Me!”
God’s Chosen couples. It seems an Act of God is what it takes to get these two together! Anything and everything that can happen, to keep them apart, will. Most people just give up the notion and settle for second best. It’s so much easier to settle for the instant gratification of taking the person who is easiest to attain. So many couples start on their life’s commitment with good intentions, putting the love of their life to the back of their mind. Time passes and the commitment made is obviously not made in Heaven. Domestic violence, infidelity, separation and divorce move in to the relationship. With unhappiness we lose our health, our well-being and our self-esteem, leading us to weight gain, weight loss, and heart problems.
But wait! What happened to the True Love we left behind? What if we had married the love of our life instead of settling for second best? Is there a chance to Overcome the damage of making a wrong decision? Think back…
As I walked along the corridor to the front entry of the restaurant, I caught my first glance of him. A man was sitting at one of the tables in front of the restaurant. On his face was a forlorn look as though he carried the weight of the world. His glance in my direction caught my eye and we made connection. He rose to his feet, with his countenance changing to a warm smile, and greeted me asking if I was the one he was expecting. Up until this moment, we had only spoken on the phone without meeting in person. A poem he had recited and recorded had brought us together. That was it! Life was never the same again. We laughed and talked for the rest of the evening on into the early morning hours. The poem he had read is lost to me, now. However, this Angel that walked into my life, left with my heart. His voice will be with me Always. And the memory of his face is etched in my memory, Forever. He is my Sweet Georgia Boy, the only one for me!
There is Always Hope for True Love!
